Get in the Halloween spirit this October with one of our favorite creepy classics! We will be meeting Monday, October 15 from 7-8:30 PM to discuss Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Merricat Blackwood lives on her family's estate with her sister Constance and Uncle Julian. There used to be seven Blackwoods, until the fateful night that arsenic found its way into the sugar bowl. Everyone blamed Constance, but she was acquitted of the crime. Now, Merricat spends her days protecting her older sister from the hostility of the local villagers. They are happy, if isolated, until cousin Charles decides to visit and seems to want to stay.
